Why do girls look at you when you walk behind them.?
I was walking on the stairs at the gym and this one girl kinda quickly turned her head and looked at me when i was walking behind her. Most people just keep walking without looking back. It happened two times already with two different girls. I was keeping my distance when i walked behind them.

they may be thinking that you could be staring at them, especially since you're in a position where you're behind them. this is an unfortunate mannerism a lot of women adopt due to the perverted nature of a lot of men who have stared at them in the past. the best way to avoid accusations of pervertedness is to look away, pass them so that you're walking in front of them, or to look at something else like your ipod or phone to make sure they know you're not looking at them.

Many women are always on some level aware of the fact that there are some risks that will always be greater for us than for any man. Just look at the number of women who at some point in their life fall victim to sexual harrassment and even outright sexual assault.
It's second nature to many of us to check our suroundings, especially when we hear someone following (which sounds the same as someone just walking behind in the same direction) and even more so if we are alone and headed towards an area where an assailant might be able to separate us from potential witnesses, like a gym's empty dressing room.
Don't take it personally. It's not.

Because you want to know who's walking there and what their intentions are, if you're safe or if it's someone you need to walk away from more quickly

A lot of females are very aware of their surroundings and are vigilant about who is behind them
Sadly a sign of the times we live in
