What can Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin do to improve the team given their performance and financial situation? See below.?
Consider the following: The team has 36 points (4th worst), and -25 goal differential. Five players (Shea Weber, Carey Price, Jeff Petry, Karl Alzner, Andrew Shaw) eat up 32.4 million in cap space (75mm max cap). Weber and Price are under contract until 2026. Price, Petry and Alzner have NMC or NTC's. What value do you think these players have?

Trade away Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Gallagher and just start over from scratch really with picks

He's backed into a corner of his own making. Most teams cannot and would be crazy to deal a top player or two of theirs fir any one you mentioned. He's about to be fired.

They’ve got the right pieces in place. They are just lacking that scoring touch. They must trade or find players who can score. Max P cannot do it all. Also Drouin must step up. They didn’t do much in off-season to help themselves. Bergevin should move Petry as well. Also I am not convinced at the system & coaching to which they play at. Claude Julian is not the right fit. It’s a process. They have 2-3 year gap here to make playoffs and actually progress before something massive happens like Price getting moved.
