Travelling from USA to Australia?

Im going with my friend to watch the ball drop in NYC next year, and I want to surprise her with a week trip to Australia at the end of that. Don’t worry my parents know all about it and are okay with it. My question, though, is what will i need to do to get into Australia because we’re minors? Are we free to go through customs or will they need something from us?

People drop into Sydney for 2 days from America. Because they are celebrities.

Each of you will need a PASSPORT and an Australian VISA.

A week trip to Australia from the USA is a ridiculous idea. For a start you will need to fly from New York to LA and then get a flight from LA to Sydney. That is going to be at least 24 hours from arriving at the airport in New York to getting through customs and immigration in Sydney - and the same on the way back so your week is now five days. Your first day in Australia will be a complete disaster because of jet lag so you now have just four days to see something of a country the size of the USA. You will of course need passports and you will also need ETA visas. Written, notarized permission will be required from your parents and satisfactory arrangements must be in place to ensure your well being as minors arriving in Australia without a parent or legal guardian. You will not be able to simply stay in a hotel with your friend without an approved person (21 years or older) who has been nominated by your parent(s) or legal guardian(s).

Also, you need to appreciate just how far Australia is from NYC. Between NYC and Sydney, it takes at least a full day of constant travelling (sometimes even longer depending on connections) and you WILL be jet lagged when you arrive which will probably take at least another day out of your week. It's a VERY long way to travel for a stay of only 3 or 4 effective days. Think again and consider waiting until you are 18 and can spend at least 3 or 4 weeks in the country.

You'll need passports, visas or ETAs, and I'm pretty sure you will need written consent from all parents, including the name and contact info of the adult who will be responsible for you while you are in Australia.
