What makes the 2018 Civic Type R fast at 300 horsepower?

I see it a lot, and they take off like crazy. I can put my car into sport mode and still not even do that.

Why is it that the Type R has 300 horsepower with only 4 cylinders, while the Chrysler 200 has 300 horsepower but its a V6?

Power to weight ratio. The engine is also in a higher state of tune with a better all round performance setup. The Chrysler is not a sports car despite having a ‘sport’ button - that’s just marketing. The Chrysler V6 puts out lazy low unstressed power. The engine will probably last longer than one in a higher state of tune.

It's all about the power-to-weight ratio. The less weight the engine has to move, the faster it can do it.

Weight. Power to weight ratio is everything for car performance. A small car with a small engine can beat a car with a monster V8 if it has a better power to weight ratio.

Why do you think that each new version of the Mazda MX-5 advertises about saving weight? Even holes drilled in the mirror mount to save 15 grams.

The Honda Civic R has a 2.0 Litre direct injected engine with added turbo boost. The turbo gives it 306 horse power. If you put a turbo on the Chrysler 200 with the 3.6L - 295 HP engine in it, it would most likely boost to 450 horse power or so.

The Type R is fairly light at 3117 pounds and it's turbocharged. The non-turbocharged Chrysler 300 is a thousand pounds heavier, so it's a pig in comparison. Just what you'd expect from an American-made pimp-mobile. It also handles like crap compared to the nimble Honda. It's only asset is a more comfortable ride. To make it as quick off the line as the Honda you'd need about 500 hp, which ain't going to happen. cheap. .
