When did Her Majesty the Queen begin wearing tights instead of stockings held up with thigh garters or by being clipped to her girdle?

You can write to Her Majesty at the following address:

    Her Majesty The Queen

    Buckingham Palace

    London SW1A 1AA

Trolls generally have not earned an answer.

If she does not want to tell you then consider it none of your business.

Oh, probably in the mid-60s WHEN EVERY OTHER WOMAN STARTED DOING IT. ("Panty hose" are relatively new, and elastic socks for men are only a few decades older.)
