on the highway and want to cut someone is it okay if I go from 5th to 3rd or even maybe 5th gear? To get the speed to quickly cut someone?

Okay ik everyone sometimes gets a need for speed on the highway sometimes. And in always use my turn signal, for that extra warning for the drivers around me when I cut em off. And obviously when I shift to those gear I'll probably be around 70mph or 80

Don't cut people or cut them up, it's simply bad manners and dangerous. You appear to suggest going from 5th to 5th - that sounds safe enough. At 70 or 80 mph 3rd sounds a simply appalling choice.

Cutting off drivers is always reckless. Changing lanes is a different move that can be safely done given enough planning and skill. Your shifting skill sounds terrible to me. You should be in the gear suitable for driving conditions. This isn't dogfighting, it's driving. Depending on your car, the shift from 5th to 3rd might redline the engine and ruin valves and pistons.

You are an idiot, your poorly constructed question indicates a low IQ.

You need a knife to cut someone. Try 4th gear, and also try English the next time.

I think 5th to 3rd is a bit much stress on the engine however going into 4th should do the trick. I do it all the time to pass someone when I'm on the highway and they are in my lane to get over. For some reason they appear to be pacing me when attempting to get over. Alternatively, if no one is behind you, you could press on the brakes and get behind them.
