Why has an entire year gone by without a correct leaderboard getting posted?
The operative word in this question is "correct". The national leaderboard gets updated weekly, but with information that is a year old. For this past year every entry has been identical to the one two weeks before.

The LBs were updated recently, or at least some of them. The reason it took so long, and the reason it may not be done again any time soon (we don't know) is because the automatic updating stopped working a long time ago and it hasn't been high on Verizon's "to do" list (if it was on the list at all). There is no indication anyone working for Verizon Media uses the site or looks in here, anymore.
Verizon Media (formerly Oath) has been virtually uncommunicative with us since they started running the site. We did have a little info and input for a few months last year, when there was a YA Team in place. However, at the end of October that team was disbanded and it was unknown if they would be replaced (we've had no indication that they have been). Since then, we tend to only know about changes to the site when they actually happen (no heads-up or information prior to anything occurring).

Because no one is taken care of it for Verizon Media. In fact, I doubt they even know they are reasonable for it.

I thought the overall leader board had been updated recently. Verizon has not updated a lot of things. Yahoo stopped updating things in 2014.
Verizon bought Yahoo. Verizon took over Yahoo's Sunnyvale headquarters 19 months ago
