If you have 200 soldiers in a particular troop , and their number is decimated, how many are left. First correct answer gets points?

    Well, when I looked it up, {as I am sure most of the others did as well}, the 'historical' definition indicates One in Ten of the troops being taken out of 'action'; so, as the others said, 180.

    This is odd too me, as that is only 1%., and too the US troops, that is only a flesh wound.

    Here all along, I was under the impression that a 'decimation' would be 75%+.

    So, I feel that the number left over would be 50 troops or less.

    To me, that is the definition of 'decimated'.

    After thought; If you fed your troops string beef, refried beans, cheese, and rice, in a couple of days, it would be a total defecation.

    In the ancient Roman army as a punishment to their own troops 1 in 10 of the troops were punished by a death sentence and so 200 - 20 = 180 troops are left alive.
