About a motorcycle title?
I live in Texas and recently put a motorcycle for sale . Someone contacted me and asked whether the title was OK. Then asked for the vin # , I supposed to check about the title. I gave it to him and now it is like 3 days I did not hear from that person. Could a dishonest person misuse the # or is there nothing to worry about?

Nothing to worry about. Car dealers put the VIN on their website so people can check it’s accident history which is probably what that guy did.
The title is what you have to worry about. It tells the DMV who the owner is. If you sell you cycle, you’ll have to do a license transfer so that he becomes the new owner.

Either the bike's got a clean title or it doesn't. Either you have a piece of paper called the title or you don't. Which is it?

Nothing bad can be done with just a vehicle identification number. That is why the numbers are in plain sight on most vehicles.

With that information he could steal an identical bike and clone it with your details. He will need a vin number and you have supplied it!
Did he also ask for your registration number or was that available to view in your advert?
If the answer is yes to any of these answers I suggest having a word at your local police station so they are aware you're the innocent party and a good citizen. They will also be able to check whether a similar modal has been stolen and perhaps catch the culprit. At the very least you'll be protecting yourself.
