Light aircraft for my birthday gift - am I able to modify and fly?

I have been gifted a light aircraft for my birthday. I have two similar questions; 1) Am I able to modify the aircraft myself? (i.e remove or add parts to the aircraft exterior for enhanced speed in the air) and 2) Am I able to fly into 'restricted' airspace although I do not have a pilot's license? I have been in a plane before however on multiple holidays. Thank you!

If it is a type certified aircraft, you cannot modify it without applying for a supplemental type certificate (STC) . If it is an experimental category aircraft you may modify it till your hearts content or until you kill yourself, whichever comes first.

No. Licensed or not, you cannot fly any aircraft into restricted airspace without special approval from the controlling authority unless you'd like to face federal charges, heavy fines and possible jail time.

GOOGLE Mike Patey and see what he has done to the airplane he calls DRACO.

In one video he shows the two boxes of paperwork he's had to fill out to certify his modifications.

With no clues of what "light aircraft" and exactly where in the world you are, and what "in a plane before on multiple holidays" means exactly, the short answers are:

    NO!

    NO!

And to any other follow up questions, probably also NO!

    1. Modifying an aircraft without extensive background in aeronautics, aerodynamics, and engineering, will most certainly render the aircraft unsafe and very probably un-flyable.

    2. You cannot fly any aircraft at all without a pilots license. Even with a license, restricted air space would be off limits.

Riding in an airplane multiple times on holiday in no way qualifies you for any of this.

You do have piloting experience? Anything at all?

"I've flown on holiday." does not qualify you to fly a light aircraft.

    Do not modify anything.

Do you mean you are getting ultra light?

    Because

You have to have a license to fly a light aircraft. You don't need to be instrument certified, but you need a license to fly visual.

    "Restricted" means NO!

An ultra light is an expensive toy.

A Cessna is a light aircraft.
