For what it's worth, it seems I recall a case in which the user was able to make a Brother printer print using Debian but not Linux Mint.

Linux Mint was able to print (perhaps using hplip from the package manager) with an HP printer not long afterward.

have you tried the XP drivers?

honestly, you shouldn't be using a 2000 system for anything vital. it hasn't been viable for nearly 2 decades.

if you NEED it to work, you can either buy a replacement printer that's the same model as the one that died, or else install Linux on the 2000 box, as there are drivers for both the other printers. and honestly, Linux should run faster than Windows (in most cases) anyways.

According to the Web site this driver will support the Brother HL 1110 on Windows 2000
