Traditional recipe shouldn't have sunflower oil, but it's probably easier and cheaper than using butter

I have'nt seen a recipe with oil in it, but some cakes benefit [it makes them nice and moist] especially carrot cake.

if the recipe calls for oil, you can use ANY oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, peanut oil, sunflower oil, etc.

Vegetable oil in cake is not uncommon. Oil will often make a cake much moister than other fats. (butter or shortening)

As long as the recipe is from a trusted source and it sounds logical I would not have a problem following the recipe.

Processed foods have so much bad stuff in them that cause diabetes II and heart disease and you are hung up over a HEALTHY fat?

I'll answer my own question: the world of diet and nutrition is a complicated and intentionally confusing field of misdirection and misinformation with a soupcon of ignorance., so yes.
