I need help with this math problem please?

If 28 recent customers at McDonald’s purchased either a hamburger or fries, 20 purchased fries, and 17 purchased both a hamburger and fries, how many customers purchased only a hamburger?

Please don’t just put the answer I wanna see how you got it

    Since 20 purchased fries (includes fries only and fries with hamburger)

    subtract those that purchased hamburger and fries

    means 3 customers only ordered fries

    28 total - 3 fries only - 17 hamburger and fries

    *Question is misleading. If you say hamburger or fries. Then none should have purchased both. Should have said hamburger and/or fries.*
