Do a lot of people wear flip flops in Washington DC?

I am going to Washington DC in June for a few nights and since it's warm there, I was thinking of spending the entire three days wearing flip flops. I am mainly just going to be strolling through the Smithsonian museums, so I won't be doing a lot of rigorous walking. I think it would be nice to have my feet free instead of being confined in shoes, especially since it gets very hot over there.

Is it ok to wear flip flops in Washinton DC? Do most people there wear them?

Thats fine. Lots of people wear flip flops in the summer. D.C area is generally not very well dressed. The look is wolf in sheeps clothing.

NO people in the East coast don't wear flip flops in urban areas unless there going in  a swimming pool .

This is a fetish, isn't it? You keep posting these ridiculous questions about flip-flops.

It's certainly ok to wear them.  I never recommend wearing them when visiting a place where you do a lot of walking, and DC involves more walking than one would think.  On one day of our last trip there, we made our way from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, stopping in various museums along the way.  We walked over 10 miles that day.  If you don't want to wear tennis shoes, then consider supportive walking/hiking sandals.

No, MOST people don't wear them there, but you can wear them if you'd like, though they don't give much arch support.

It would be okay, fashion-wise, but it's a bad idea. Washington DC is a walking city. You won't be able to park anywhere near your destination, and of course you walk a few miles touring museums and such. Flipflops are comfortable for hanging out but lousy for extended walking.

You're likely to end up footsore at best, with burst blisters at the toe thong at worst.

I usually wear athletic shoes there, but if your feet being free matters to you, then get a dedicated walking sandal with a back strap to keep it on your foot and proper cushioning and support in the sole.
