Yahoo Answers is shutting down on 4 May 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.
TO YAHOO ANSWERS TEAM?
I have a question about the YA Platform. Is there some way to signal answerers that they are blocked by the person writing the "Question"? I waste a lot of time writing thoughtful, cogent, respectful answers only to find out that the "Questioner" does not have a question but only wants to make an inflammatory political statement.

I always test the waters first by initially leaving a short answer, if it works, then I don’t have to worry about leaving a longer answer. I understand your issues though when it comes to wasting time on answering someone.

I am tired of that too........now, when I answer any anon question, I just type a few words to see if it will post............75% if the time it wont, so that saves me typing out the long answer I would have given,......only to THEN find out I am blocked.
and Yahoo doesn't read anything here, but they do respond to suggestions on the Suggestion board.........(but not often)
So post your complaint there, and other users will vote on it.

If you could type, you are not usually blocked. It would help to know what happens when you try. Several things can happen:
1. If you take too long, you can lose the connection (type outside Yahoo and cut/paste to get around this)
2. You have exceeded your daily limit (does the word false appear?)
3. You exceeded the character limit (is the box red with a negative number?)
4. You have a bad cache file on your system, clean and reboot.
5. Just copy your answer, refresh the page and paste it in again.
6. Certain links will cause problems, post without them and add as updates.
7. Symbols such as % will cause problems on mobiles. Spell it out.
8. On mobiles, try Desktop mode.
9. Type a one-word answer and if that posts, then edit in the rest.

That's funny no one else is even able to start posting an answer if you are blocked. Instead of assuming try posting a brief answer again and make sure it wasn't just a glitch causing your answer not to post.

You are NEVER posting to anyone who works for Yahoo, when you post on Yahoo Answers. There is no YA Team anymore (at least not one that interacts with users here, the last YA Team was disbanded in October of 2018).
The issue of not being aware you are trying to respond to a question by an Anon user who has you blocked, as been broached in the past MANY times. At one time, it was supposedly corrected, but that didn't last long at all. The place to address issues with the site or suggest changes/improvements is here https://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/924010 in the feedback forum. THAT is where someone working for Yahoo/Verizon will see suggestions and decide whether to take action on them. Before posting your issue do a quick search and find where it's been posted before, then VOTE for that suggestion and add your comment (instead of posting another suggestion about the same exact issue).
