Update 2:

Great thanks to Nick, good serious answer, i'll check those bands out. More answers like Nick's, please. Keep the answers conib,' the more the merrier!!!

Update 3:

Sorry, another typo, dammit! " Keep the answers COMIN,' " NOT "Keep the answers CONIB' - that typo was a really terrible one, my bad once again

Update 4:

@ Dominique - Wow, what thought and effort you put into your answer. I already know and like things like Sonic Youth, The Stooges, Rival Sons, Silversun Pickups, Be Your Own Pet, Raveonettes. Stuff that I know but don't like are Modest Mouse, Flaming Lips, Kaiser Chiefs, The Libertines, The Kills, Kasabian... I hope that the coming answerers take after Dominique and give similarly long, knowledgeable, informative, relevant anwers. the bigger the variety, the more songs out of it i'll like.

Update 5:

@ Chad, i already know and like miisfits, badbrains, eddie and the hot-rods, the cramps, the jam,  bauhaus, joy division, siouxsee and the banshees, alien  sex fiend and so on. thanks for trying to help anyway.

Update 6:

@ Chad - (CONT'D) - and ramones, the oppressed, p.i.l., sex pistols, circle jerks, stiff little fingers, too.

Update 7:

Thanks to Chad, i discovered a band that is new to me and that i like - Jerry's Kids. Thanks to phatzwave, i discovered All Them Witches + The Magpie Salute. Thanks to Nick i now know and like The Allah Las. As for Dominique, thanks 4 your answer, it'll take me a little bit of time for me to go thru all of your (thankfully) big list.

In response to Dominique's answer, which is the best reply i got so far - i found 8 things i liked from your list of 70-plus singers/bands. The band that stood out for me the most is Black Pistol Fire. The remaining 7 that are new to me + that i like are :   ................The Blue Stones, The Interrupters, July Talk, The Naked and the Famous, Phantogram, The Vaccines - AND The Raveonettes, which i used to know a bit of, but never really found anything of their's that i liked. Now i rediscovered The Raveonettes and found stuff that i DO like.

No not really because I dont like The White Stripes and I cant stand The Strokes. (And I dont care if you dont give a schit about what I think.)

In fact, I want to show you something. I want to show you what The Strokes would have sounded like had they not got it wrong:

And if you already know the Misfits. Great. You get to here them again. You can never listen to a band like The Misfits too much.

"@ Chad - (CONT'D) - and ramones, the oppressed, p.i.l., sex pistols, circle jerks, stiff little fingers, too."

Dont forget The Pop Group, The Birthday Party, Suicidal Tendencies (first album), Throbbing Gristle, Jerry's Kids, Dead Can Dance, Sisters Of Mercy, Husker Du, Siege, Corrosion Of Conformity (first album), Minor Threat, and Fugazi.

By extension L.A. kind of had a rebirth in hardcore (completely devoid of Pop Punk influence) in the mid 90s. The genre was branded as "Powerviolence". Check it oit
