Is it important for a gay guy to come out?
My partner grew up in the UK. His father is Jamaican and his mother Brasilian. He came out to his mum 2 years ago. His dad 1 year ago. His mum took it well but is avoiding it now and his dad couldn't deal with it at the time.
Since then nothing has changed. I've been over twice but his parents have been unwilling to come downstairs. He isn't good at confrontation and thinks if they don't want to accept it or make the effort then they just won't be part of our future. I want him to make the effort because if we move in together I don't want them to resent me as the one who took him away from them.
In addition if we get married in the future would I want them there? Also I can only kee white lying to my parents for so long about knowing them. If he doesn't think it's worth the effort for them to know me should I care so much about it?
Part of me thinks If he's not going to make the effort should I be with him? The other thinks how much if any will it impact our future

Many gays leave their family, because they will not accept the child. I would not go there again. If they cannot accept him, how will they ever accept you.

He can not control how his parents think, feel or what they will accept in their household. It's not reasonable to require it. What's the issue with you and your parents?
