Donald Trump: If Biden Wins the Debate Tonight He’ll Have His Drug Dealer to Thank

    BESS LEVIN

    SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 2:07 PM

As you’ve probably heard by now, in the run-up to the first presidential debate, Donald Trump and his supporters have suggested that Joe Biden both (1) suffers from dementia and (2) has been using drugs to improve his performance. “I think there’s probably—possibly—drugs involved,” Trump told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro in an interview earlier this month. “That’s what I hear. I mean, there’s possibly drugs. I don’t know how you can go from being so bad where you can’t even get out a sentence.” Obviously, the accusation is entirely baseless and likely projection, given that Trump is the one who struggles to pronounce simple words in his native language, acts as though he recently had a stroke, and has exhibited some of the telltale signs of cocaine use.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to insist that the Democratic nominee is juicing and that the American people have a right to know. “I will be strongly demanding a Drug Test of Sleepy Joe Biden prior to, or after, the Debate on Tuesday night,” Trump tweeted Sunday. “Naturally, I will agree to take one also. His Debate performances have been record setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy???” When the Biden campaign mocked the idea, because this isn’t a UFC fight, Trump told his followers:

Clearly terrified about going head-to-head with Biden on Tuesday, Trump’s supporters have fanned out to push the theory that the former vice president’s behavior demonstrates both that he is in cognitive decline and that he’s taking Adderall or other such performance-enhancing drugs. On Fox News, former White House physician Ronny Jackson—who earned the nickname “Candyman” for allegedly giving out drugs like candy, a charge he denies—told Sean Hannity that, in his medical opinion, “there’s definitely something going on here” and that the only reason it’s not being reported is because the media is in the can for Democrats:

“The media is the communications branch for the Democratic Party,” Jackson told Hannity Monday night, “and they’re just aggressively covering for [Biden]. Obviously something is going on with this man at this point, I mean they keep him locked away for 90% of the time and then when they have a little window where they think he might be able to put a few sentences together, they break him out and have him read from a teleprompter, and then as soon as it’s over they just dismiss him right away without taking any questions, unless of course they’re scripted questions that he already has the answers for. I think there’s definitely something going on here, I think it’s completely reasonable to ask if he’s being medicated because he has had a few times where he’s come out and he’s looked a little bit more energetic than he’s typically looked over the last few months. It could be that he’s having good days and having bad days because that’s how this cognitive decline usually happens, it happens, you will have good days and bad days, but I think it’s completely reasonable to ask if he’s taking medications to help him with his alertness and his memory.”As for the charge that Biden is kept “locked away,” Jackson may not know this but the nominee is not running a traditional campaign at the moment because of a highly contagious and very lethal virus that has killed more than 205,000 people in the United States. If it seems like Trump is out on the campaign trail more, that’s because the president has chosen to ignore guidance from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization about avoiding massive indoor gatherings full of people refusing to wear masks. As for claiming that Biden both has dementia and is able to pull it together by using Adderall, another Trump groupie floated this theory on Tuesday morning. Appearing on Fox & Friends, Dr. Rudy Giuliani claimed that he’s spoken to his colleagues in the medical community and they all agree with the completely insane charge:“The man has dementia, there’s no doubt about it,” Giuliani, whose behavior over the last several years has suggested he needs a brain scan ASAP, told the hosts. “I’ve talked to doctors, I’ve had them look at a hundred different tapes of his five years ago and today.” Informed that the Biden campaign says the candidate is fine, Giuliani launched into a monologue that seemed to only prove he himself is in deep cognitive decline. “Uh muh buh…he can’t recite the pledge of allegiance and he’s fine? He was in the Senate for 160 years, I mean, he can’t do the prologues to the, the, uh, the Constitution of the United States or the Declaration of Independence or any of them. He can’t do numbers. Wow, are the numbers screwed up. He actually displays symptoms that two gerontologists told me are classic symptoms of middle-level dementia. That’s when he does that ‘I pledge allegiance, to the United States uh uhh I think…’ He’s done that twice. That’s a classic symptom in the DSM-5, the fifth symptom, of dementia. He’s got eight of the 10. Look, that isn’t the debate, he can get through it. I think the president is quite right to say maybe he’s taking Adderall, or some kind of attention deficit disorder thing.”“And that’s why the president wants to do a drug test, but, you know, none of us are doctors so that’s just your opinion,” a visibly annoyed Steve Doocy interrupted.“It’s not just my opinion, it’s the opinion of a number of doctors I’ve actually interviewed,” Giuliani said, not mentioning if said doctors were actually just the Dr. Zizmor ads on the subway.Anyway, just so it’s clear, this is the argument that Trump & Co. will be making before, during, and after tonight’s debate, and by tomorrow they’ll probably be claiming they walked in on Biden doing lines in the bathroom just before he went on stage.
