If Covid can travel outside for over a mile what's the point of even trying to social distance?

Because at least a little bit of distance is a help. The U.S. has 8.77 X Canada's population. Why then, does it have 8,948,099 cases to our 231,383 (38.67 X more)?
Why 228,678 dead to out 10,127 (22.58 X more)? Why are you 4.4 X more likely to get sick & 2.57 X more likely to die from the virus? The reason is that masks & social distancing DO work. Our much lower rates of illness/death prove it.
In Canada, 47% of us have no problem at all about these measures. Another 34% dislike having to do them, but do to serve the utilitarian purpose. !7% just don't go out at all. Only 2% are bone-headed Bozos like so many in the U.S. & don't want to play by the rules designed for maximum safety. This sense of community USED to be common in the U.S. - the movies of Frank Capra (e.g.; "It's A Wonderful Life","Meet John Doe") prove this. Now, it seems you've all gone "It's alright Jack (I've got mine, so F you)". You lose as a society & a country by such self-centred carelessness.

I think this whole social distancing thing is nothing more than fearmongering. Same with the masks. I can understand "bro"-saying Hispanics and blacks' reasoning for it though cause I am part Hispanic but even then that's not out of arrogance, hatred, uptightness like how white liberals tend to do it for (I don't even mean white liberals on the West Coast; I'm talking the stuck-up hateful stuck up ones in the Northern states, and it raises to snobby and elitist in the Northeast).
I'm not forcing people to not wear a mask if they want to wear a mask but don't look down on me for not wearing a mask
I do think many mask-wearers are assholes but not cause they wear a mask. If they feel they need to, I support them. I wish they would have the same attitude to those who don't like the idea of wearing masks.
