How do I not get my CA license suspended?

I'm from California but I just moved to Arizona. I bought Root car insurance and had put the new Arizona address even though my license and registration is California. Stupid mistake so now there's an intent to suspend letter for my car. Does the CA DMV not accept insurance from Arizona?

You moved. People do that. So the valid address is your Arizona address.  Your driver's license was issued in California(which you can drive anywhere legally in N.A.) Insurance is Arizonian. The next time you are at DMV in Arizona, you can ask them to update your license because you now live in Arizona.  They do a transfer of all the information onto an Arizona license.  (I believe you need to do that within a year of moving to another state as a permanent resident.) As important as having the Insurance swapped over...but still needs to be done.  I have never moved out of my area so not exactly knowing on the time periods allowed...it would be something I would do right away so I don't forget it(as it was put down as doing Later & I forgot)  A fine will accompany that if your intent was "Never" doing it.

. "The intent to suspend" is for another infraction that you did while in California (like unpaid traffic fines- or dangerous driving charges you got charged with and are ignoring...

If you moved to Arizona, then you have to get an Arizona drivers license - and register your car in Arizona.

    Problem solved.

A license from a state where you don't live isn't valid to drive in any state.  If you move to Arizona, then you have to get an Arizona license and Arizona registration and turn in or cancel your California license and registration.  You can't keep a CA license if you don't live there.

Scott was correct.  You need to transfer your auto insurance to Arizona and your ca registration.

No, but you must RESIDE in the State where the vehicle is insured.

Yes, your License will be suspended.

I live in AZ.  There are plenty of fools here.  Move back to California.

If you have permanently moved to AZ, you are REQUIRED to change your license and registration to AZ.

If you are temporarily in AZ, you can "potentially" have your insurance in AZ BUT you need to bring your insurance  IN PERSON to California DMV or AAA.

I live in California.  I own a car that is registered to me in California.  A relative out of state drives the car and has for the past 5 years.

The car is registered to me in California.  The relative has the insurance.

On an annual basis, I am required to go in person to show proof of insurance.  This is because CA DMV does not get the automatic download insurance company like they would if the car was insured here.

License suspension is done when DUI, point accumulation, leaving the scene of an accident, vehicle manslaughter, evading police & for record inaccuracies.

The question is, why did you do that? All DMV's are computerized & connect with each other. Moving to another state won't change your record. Buy a bicycle or take the bus. No driving until 2022. You get caught, & you will, it will be for a much longer time.

You, in a sense, falsified your address and insurance is based in a large part, on your address.

Can you spell "INSURANCE FRAUD" ?

The simple solution is to get an AZ license and register your cars there.  By the way, this is required.

No, they do not, as far as CA is concerned you are uninsured.. If you moved to AZ you have to immediately obtain an AZ license and register your vehicle in AZ.
