What's your understanding of "Catastrophic Global Warming" ...?

... a term often used by "skeptics"; rarely by proponents.

But what exactly does the term mean?

In your view, what would have to happen for the warning to be considered "catastrophic"? ... and how likely would it be for that to occur? Finally, does it HAVE to be catastrophic, in order to justify taking action to limit it?

Update:

My usual thanks for the genuine replies.  Solar; I'm still not convinced, but thanks anyway!  The Sun peaked around 60 years ago, yet the warning continues!

They say it as if there's some imaginary cutoff between something "catastrophic" and something which is 100% benign. And since they can't define what that cutoff is, it conveniently means they can always argue no action is needed. In reality the more warming we have the worse off we will be. 2 C warming is much better than 3 C, which is much better than 4 C, which is much better than 5 C.

"Catastrophic" lives in the minds of the people using that word to describe something.. Just someone trying to get some point or agenda out to convince people of something.. A 20 degree rise would be a problem.. A 2 degree rise not so much..

Drop the adjective "catastrophic" as it is unrelated to global warming.

Global warming occurs when the sun's activity level increases, which is a cyclic event. Presently the Sun is transitioning into an inactive cycle called a solar grand minimum, which means that its inactive level is going to be more lower than normal.

NASA has indicated the solar cycle 25, which has just begun, will be the sun's lowest level  in 200 years.

Remember, the Earth is in an inter-glacial or warm period of the Holocene Ice Age. These inter-glacial periods usual lasts between 12 - 14,000 years of which the planet is now at 12,500, so we are due for some serious cooling.
