Finished reading "The Man in the Iron Mask", for the first time. I found it one of the most disappointing, weirdest books I have ever read.?

What is your take on this famous Alexander Dumas book?

I rather enjoyed the story.  Dumas is giving his interpretation of a historical figure whose real identity is unknown. As you know Louis XIV was a real person and Dumas is trying to give an account for why Louis went from a man who was  notorious for his many mistresses to a man  who remained faithful to Mme Maintenon.

    Remember WHEN it was written.

I liked it; different people have different tastes.

I'd say the man in the iron mask is really hard-faced.
