I'm European and I'm confused about Trump's statement that the COVID-19 vaccines will be free in the US?
I've just heard this in our news and I'm confused, almost shocked.
How is it possible that Trump wants to give these vaccines free to everybody? Isn't that dangerous socialism, if not outright communism and Marxism?
Doesn't this open the floodgates and will transform the US into a North American Venezuela?
It looks nobody realized that I phrased this in a sarcastic way. Guess, this doesn't always translate well in writing.

Words coming out of Donald Trump's mouth are just words. They don't mean anything.
He's just about the most dishonest person ever. He just says whatever he thinks will get him good ratings at any one time. He got elected because conservative America has been cultivating a bunch of deeply ignorant suckers for over 30 years.

What is so difficult to understand about it?

The research was done with taxpayer money.
Big pharma wants to sell the vaccine for a profit..

YEP - Odd I know - but there are always exceptions for everyone, weather they will admit it or not -
Police, Firefighters, ex. also are Socialist, and LOTS of other things no one could imagine being without, or pay privately as needed.

Not to worry, dear: we actually have plenty of forms of "soft socialism" in the US already.
Everyone knows it. Some people simply want to ignore it. That's what they'll be doing with the vaccine.
Having lived in Europe, I have to point out that nothing the Europeans -- or we -- offer is actually "free". We all pay for whatever it is with our taxes.

Any action of that sort has nothing to do with who owns the means of production.
Some remedial reading is in order.
And.
Nothing is "FREE" if it comes from government.
