Where do British 'A levels' rank alongside US qualifications?

I never know what an American means when he says "I never graduated from high school".

A-Levels  are what Brits take when they are 18 years old. Generally you need to pass in 3 subjects to gain a place at university.

As far as I can tell, A-levels equals "highschool" PLUS two years of college

Why is this in the military category?

A high school diploma would roughly be the equivalent.  However, in order to graduate from high school in the US, you generally have to simply complete 12th grade with passing grades.  A few states have state-level exams, but they probably aren't as rigorous as A levels and in some cases aren't taken at the completion of high school, but at different points during high school.

The US also has exams like the SAT and ACT, which most universities use to evaluate applicants.

    There isn't an equivalent.
