Is Portland, Oregon, safe to visit right now?
I'm planning a summer road trip to Seattle and then Portland. I'm wondering if Portland is safe and if it's worth the visit.

I was there in December. You know how they burnt the city down this summer? Well, they built it back EXACTLY the same- down to the graffiti and broken windows on some old buildings. Stay away from the major bum camps and you should be fine. Worked there for 14 years and never felt threatened anywhere at any time of the day or night. Summer is good- winter is cold and wet and they have no clue how to drive in snow.
