My wife always wants to eat healthy but these salads she wants are expensive and plus she doesn’t have a job. What are cheap healthy foods ?

There’s a super food restaurant she loves for us to go to. She said her friend told her about it and said they have all clean ingredients. They serve a lot of salads and green smoothies. The place charges $8 for a smoothie and the salads are around 7-8 dollars too. I told her this is ridiculous. She said healthy food is more expensive then a $1 burger. She loves getting onto me about my burgers I only eat burgers twice a week. If she was working and wasn’t a stay at home mom this wouldn’t be a problem and she could get her expensive salads. She also suggested buying salads but again it’s still expensive to buy all the ingredients - cheese, meat, geeens, toppings etc. it’s also a lot to buy groceries on one income. She’s been trying to find online jobs where she can stay at home with the baby because one income is extremely stressful and eating healthy could cost us to lose our home

If she eats salads as much as it seems she does, it really isnt that expensive to buy  a head of lettuce, some cucumber, baby tomatoes, and crunchy toppings etc.

Also, planting your own might be a grand idea. Even if you do not have a garden, a few pots with rocket, baby tomatoes, onion, etc. will go a long way in stretching that wallet. Get a bottle of olive oil and on a weekly basis, buy an orange, some mint  and coriander, let her make her own dressings. Citrus dressings are so good!

Salads are relatively cheap to make.  Go to a grocery store and buy spinach, radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers and it will cost you less than 20 dollars.

Try to make your own salads at the home. its fresh, healthy and cheap. plus wife can experiment with new recipes. Who knows she can start out a new business by trying, experimenting, and practicing recipes at home. It is actually a funny activity. There are lots of recipes at YouTube and other social media channels/ websites.

I believe in equal rights. if she wants to eat she should get a job, then she could eat what she wants.. Why do you have to pay for everything. If its your money you should have a choice in what type of food it buys and where it is spent.

Salads are cheap if you make them at home, especially if you buy a whole lettuce rather than bags of leaves. Better still grow your own if you have some garden. Lettuce is just about the easiest thing to grow for beginners.

Yes, it can be expensive to eat healthy foods. But it evens out in health care costs. One heart problem caused by high cholesterol with wipe out any savings you get from not eating salads.

You honestly believe that a stay-at-home mom isn't working? She may not be bringing in income, kid, but she is definitely working. All day, and nights and weekends, too. How about you bring home the groceries and make dinner for her every night to save money? It does NOT cost more to eat healthy foods if you plan and cook at home.

8 bucks for a smoothie is ridiculous.  It is not expensive to buy fresh lettuce and salad toppings and when she makes salads at home, the toppings will last longer so overall it would be cheaper. It sounds like she's trying to use an excuse for going to the trendy superfood restaurant, and there are lots of other healthy choices besides salads when it comes to healthy eating.  I make pasta dinners and soups at home all the time, and they come out to about $10 a dinner, for two people, with leftovers. They include healthy ingredients like beans, diced tomatoes, and fresh vegetables.

    Ice cubes, or flavor water.
