    Yes, I believe you can.

I grew my best and biggest sunflowers by accident....from fallen bird seed!

So, I figure if bird food sunflower seeds can grow, Why wouldn't food grade sunflower seeds do the same?

I doubt it, they have been processed.

You can grow a plant from nearly Any seed. My Grandfather grew a peach tree from  pit-his son and grandson got wonderful peaches from it for 14 years-way past the average life of a peach tree.

Usually not--the seeds are sometimes covered in salt, which will kill any growing parts, or they are roasted or processed.

Not usually, because they are usually roasted and salted.

If you can get raw unsalted sunflower seeds, they should grow all right.

Most people grow sunflowers simply for their statuesque nature and cheerful, large flowers. But you may also grow them to eat the seeds. Sunflower seeds are tasty and nutritious. ... You can enjoy both the buds of sunflower plants and the petals of mature blooms.
