If freely accessible guns stop shootings, why did the latest shooting happen (as well as the TX Walmart shooting from a few years back)?

Update:

@ Robert- If you want to protect yourself, learn to fight and get in shape.

There are a few nutjobs out there.  There is no reason to prevent honest and sane people form having legal protection.  If you want to make everyone safe, ban automobiles.  Over 2,800,000 people are killed each year in cars.  Or we can have sensible laws and regulations accepting that there are some who will try to take advantage of us and increase police presence to help stem those issues.

    the false-construct is entirely yours....

you know.... like fewer police reduces crimes.... beating Asians combats racism and destroying property promotes justice...

If freely accessible guns truly reduced mass shootings then we could vastly reduce the number of mass shootings by leaving guns lying around everywhere where anyone could use them.

America has more guns, and more shootings and gun deaths. It's not very hard to understand, unless you have an addiction to firearms like many Americans do.
