This was something HR recently told me was a concern so I need some tips on talking with a filter at work

Before you open you mouth ask yourself "Is this something My Grandmother would want to hear?" If it is not...do not say it.

Just think about what you're going to say before you say it. Is it offensive to others? Is it insensitive? Does it need to be said at all? Brutal honesty used to be a valuable trait. These days it can get you in trouble because of easily offended, over-sensitive wimps in the workplace.
