How long before 4k tv and films become mainstream?

I've noticed 4k tvs are becoming reasonable in price. Pushing the lower end of $1000. 8K tvs still seem to be at least $3000.

In the UK i've noticed that there isn't a huge amount of 4K content. How long does it typically take for it to become main stream?

4K TVs have been around for quite a few years now. I have a 4K tv that’s several years old.

Most movies comes out in 4K ultra blu-ray.

Movies you see in theaters are most likely 4K but you probably didn’t notice the difference.

Considering that most people (including me)

really don't care to go beyond DVD,

you are looking at a Very long wait.
