Why is it so hard to find a 2021 gaming laptop in stock anywhere?

Razer Blades... out of stock

Asus Tuf... out of stock, or too expensive

Rog Zephyrus f15... out of stock everywhere

The only gaming laptops I can find are older model 2019 and 2020 releases.

I'm trying to get the Asus Tuf Dash F15 myself, which is only available at a decent price from Best Buy. It almost immediately sells out, like bots are buying them. This includes the open box models.

What the hell? Why is it so hard to find a 2021 gaming laptop that is actually in stock!?

Due to the COVID pandemic many of the companies that make computer parts (processors, memory, video cards, etc.) were shut down.  Also many of the companies that assembly the computers.  You stop making them for six months and there are none to keep in stock.

The business I support got lucky in that we order 160 new computer and they got shipped to us one day before restrictions shut down the manufacturer making them.  It has been impossible to get a more computers since then.  So we ended up having to cancel our usual yearly refresh of any units over four years old and use those 160 units to replace any that break or for new deployments.  Currently we are down to seven units in stock.  Hopefully when they run out we will be able to find something - anything - somewhere.

They are in high demand due to a lot of people still being stuck at home (often people who need high-end machines for doing engineering/design work will buy gaming machines), and there may be a bit of a bottleneck thanks to that ship getting stuck in the Suez canal.

You may have to settle for another brand, Alienware, etc.
