Young girls periods can be sporadic, vary in length, even be skipped for a time.  Usually due to such things as diet, medications and stress.  Things should settle down in time, be patient.

That's really too long.  Some women's periods last for 7 days, but 5 or 6 is more common.

If this keeps up, you should see a gynecologist.

You have a father, or a guardian. The majority of people in the world know about menstruation.

as a professor, i am also trained in the art of PMS. 10 days is about 9 days too long. if you don't have access to a hospital or a walk in clinic, i think your only option is to contact your mom. i know you said don't ask about your mom, but i'm the professor and your mom has to be involved in this. i understand she left when you were 1 years old, but this is critically important. we have to know how long of a period your mom has...wait oh i thought a period was something else. never mind

It is long for a first period, but not abnormal. .it takes a few months for periods to normalize. If you don't have excessive cramps or very heavy bleeding, give it a few months. If you have really bad cramps /bleeding ask your dad to take you to the doctor. But i think you're gonna be fine.. Congrats on growing up and good luck.

Yes, periods will be very irregular in both frequency and duration at the start. You should try and find a trusted female person to help you navigate puberty however.
