Why didn’t the Brits force Christianity on Indians ?

It seems like Europeans kind of forced everyone to convert to Christianity. This includes much of South America and souther part of Africa. But why didn’t they pressure the Indians

In fact, the Muslims didnt force Indians to leave Hinduism either

I wonder why

There are lots of Christians in India, but only some chose to convert. Some countries were forced into Christianity by Europeans but that was in earlier times in less-inhabited countries. India has such a large population anyway and the British empire ruled there much more recently.

People are forced into islam or killed wherever muslims are in the majority, as in Pakistan and other muslim countries.

It5 was never the Policy to Force Religion or language on Occupied Countries By the British Military of the British Government

Only the Roman Catholic Church went out to Convert at any cost
