Yahoo Answers is shutting down on 4 May 2021 (Eastern Time) and the Yahoo Answers website is now in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.
Has anyone downloaded their YA history yet?
If so, then what exactly is inside the archive? All I see here that's substantial are files with the *.json extension.

Some have as there have been questions posted about it. Apparently the files can be quite large and not in a visually appealing format. After all, they are downloads from a database, so it's not going to look like a word processing document.

"A JSON file is a file that stores simple data structures and objects in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format, which is a standard data interchange format. It is primarily used for transmitting data between a web application and a server."

I cannot understand why Yahoo doesn't give us an easy tool to download all our data as a word, html or pdf file. Since the data size limit is about 30 mb (I think it's 10 mb for Adobe) They might need to split it into several files. But JSON format is absurd, and I think shows laziness on the part of Yahoo.

I haven't and I'm not sure what's the point? I understand you only get to download your questions...but not anyone's answers. Or you get your answers...but not the question you're answering.
