Student visa?

My friend is from Colombia and she is visiting her father for the summer here in america.  She has a spanish student visa and she wants to get into investing.

They ask for ssn number and she doesn’t have a ssn card but is that the same as the visa id number she has? Or no

Study in her own country.  We are full.

She can't work in the US, she's a tourist.

Her Spanish visa is valid only in Spain (and for studying, not working)

She can apply and get a TIN [a substitute for a social security number], she will qualify for it. If she ever becomes an immigrant or a citizen that same number will become her social security number. She can apply it online at the IRS.Gov

The number on her visa for a country that isn't the US has nothing to do with investing in the US. But one doesn't have to be a US citizen or have an SSN to invest in the US stock market.

No, her USA tourist visa number is not a SSN or replacement.

By "get into investing" she means "work in the USA".  She cannot legally do that without  a work visa.  To get a work visa she has to be sponsored for the visa by an employer in the USA. It isn't going to happen.
