If firearms were used to fight a tyrannical government, wouldn't the degree of tyranny quickly escalate?
The resistance might win the first battle. Then tanks and jets would quickly suppress the insurrection. As the saying goes, someone is more likely to die because they have a gun. Therefore, isn't the argument: "there are degrees of tyranny and firearms deter low-level tyranny" untenable?

Citizen soldiers have fought against superior fighting forces all thru history. Many have won, despite overwhelming odds. Remember the citizens of Vietnam. Farmers by day and soldiers by night. They defeated the French first then the Americans in their long running war for self determination.

And the people operating those equipment have constitutional duty to protect the American citizens

if the government removes the right of self defense and the People happily abdicate that right.... do firearms even matter any more?
oh....and before you say "nobody's trying to remove the right of self defense" you might want to educate yourself on the "progressive" district attorneys in Los Angeles and San Francisco...
San Francisco has already made it a crime to use violence in resisting a mugging... If somebody threatens you with a knife and you give him a concussion with a blow to the head YOU are criminally liable for not handing over your wallet peacefully...
the Los Angeles DA is pushing to make drivers criminally liable for any damages that result from resisting a carjacking... so let's say your female friend is at a stoplight with her baby in the back seat... a guy with a knife smashes her window and says "get out of the car!"...she panics, accelerates, runs over the guy's foot and hits a parked car while fleeing the scene...
SHE can now be charged for injuring HIM in addition to facing criminal charges for all the damage SHE caused...

We almost were at that point with Trump getting prepared to cede the US to Russia.

You're trying very hard...but a similar argument could be made against any article of the Bill of Rights.
Without the Bill of Rights, you are at the absolute mercy of whoever is in charge at the time.
Besides, if the argument you are currently making was true, no government would ever be overthrown, as the government is always better armed than any rebel force.
Yet it has happened, again and again, throughout history.

The American revolution was proof that armed militias cannot defeat their own government.
Oh, wait.
Seriously though, you're making a giant leap when you claim without evidence that "tanks and jets will quickly suppress the insurrection." What exactly is the jet pilot going to launch missiles at? A spot on the ground where a patriot was standing twenty minutes ago?

The confederates were proof that armed militias can’t defeat their own government. And that was before Tanks, drones and aircraft carriers.
