Were the early 2000s a funny and colored time?

I remember being a kid, playing crash and spyro, listening to red hot chili peppers. I remeber pokemon and all those cartoons. It was a fun time. Much more fun than now. Maybe it was that the late 90s and early 00s were different and funny?

Kids toys and activities tend to be more colorful than products meant for adults so perhaps that's what you're responding to.

Our society is devolving in front of us.  Democrats are trying to pack the Supreme Court, Republicans are in pedophile rings, being critical of anyone who is not a white male is seen as racist and sexist, and men thinking they are women is considered normal.  Burning down cities are seen as peaceful protests.  Yes, the 2000s were different and funny.  Our civilization is at its breaking point now.  Rome is burning and we are all fiddling.
