Why would they not hire me?
I'm not going to say the name of the company but I had applied to a large company and they "hired" me. I got a confirmation email and everything saying I was hired and I gave them all my bank account info like they requested so they could direct deposit me my checks to get paid. Come to find out 3 days later I never hear back from the hiring manager so I tried calling him multiple times and he wouldn't answer. I'm just so confused why they would tell me I'm hired and then just practically ghost me like this. The manager even showed me around the store one day and told me what jobs I would be doing around the store. I have never seen anything like this. I have no way of getting in contact with anybody about it because the store says "we are not accepting calls at this time" when I try to call the store and the hiring manager won't answer my calls either. So weird.

Maybe the "manager" was a fraud or had no authority to "hire you". Maybe it was a scam to get your bank info. Maybe they're just incompetent. If you reply to the "confirmation email" and nothing happens, then just show up for work, as "agreed" and see what they say.

Depending on covid 19 restrictions in your area, the store may be closed. If it's closed you're not likely going to get a hold of a manager. There's a bunch of reasons as to why they wouldn't hire you. Maybe they found some one more qualified after offering you the job.
If you have the manager's cell phone number call them / text them. Ask if you still have the job and when you're going to start working. If you still don't get response from them, try contacting HR to see what's going on. If you no longer have a job then move on.

you can get yourself a background check to make sure you're aware of anything that might have triggered them, so to speak. call your local police station to see about getting one. call the non emergency number.
keep applying. it just sounds like a shady company. who knows what their decision making was. but at will employments can end, or not begin for any number of reasons. and don't even not have to tell you
just keep searching for other places. one will come through now that places are opening back up more.

It could be all kinds of reasons and to add insult to injury, employers likely won't tell you the exact reason why. Most often the bottom of the ninth denial is as a result of getting the result back on your criminal background check. You may have a misdemeanor warrant and not realize it. For example forgetting to pay a speeding ticket or not showing up to traffic court will result in exactly that. Silly, yet important at the same time.

Just a sh*tty company it sounds like. That’s happened to me before. I got hired at Taco Bell and every time I went there to get started he would just shoo me away and say he was too busy. I stopped trying to contact him and I never heard from him again. It also happened at another place where they hired me, then after they told me it was a working interview and I wasn’t officially hired. Some places just have no idea what they’re doing.
