In major cities, do parochial schools generally do a better job turning out high school graduates capable in reading, writing & math; or,...?

...are the public schools in those cities generally doing a better job educating their K-12 students in the basic subjects?

Or, is there generally no distinguishing between the two systems as far as delivering a basic education to their K-12 students?

Update:

Thanks, MagicMan. Perhaps then, it's just the parents who favor non-public schools for their kids, yeah?

You know, discipline like the parents exercise at home, failure to do homework being called-out AND penalized, academic expectations being met or consequences being meted-out, NO social promotion, NO acting-out in class (RADICAL, yeah!?! lol), etc.?

Update 2:

Listen UP, JoJoGoofBall, 'cause I'ma sayin' it only 1X: shape the phukk-UP or get out!!!

New Study Confirms That Private Schools Are No Better Than Public Schools

After reviewing data from over 1,000 students, researchers from the University of Virginia found no evidence to suggest that students from low-income families and children enrolled in urban schools benefited more from private than from public school education. These results are particularly relevant as legislators fight to move toward more a more privatized public education system. They also make it clear that the assumption that public schools are inferior to private schools is wrong.
