There is not a lot about me that is too terribly interesting. I am a new mother and hope to become a college professor in time. I am a person that enjoys life to the fullest and I learn from my mistakes. I am a very sarcastic individual. I have a LOT to learn. Pretty much about everything. And I am a "jack of all trades" type of person. I like to be satisfactory in many areas instead of being specialized in just one. I enjoy Philosophy and I observe people to learn about them. I think that's all I have to say for now. :)

  • How long does DNA survive on a sample?

I was watching 20/20 and the story was a closed case, the evidence was all stuffed in a box, even the DNA sample that they said was a semen swab from the woman's genitalia. It wasn't refrigerated. They said it'd been in that box for 20 years. And they said they were able to test it now, but not 20 years ago. I call bullshit. Lol. No way that sample could have survived 20 years without the proper storage. The show claimed that the man who did it all was a soldier and was tried after being tried twice. But this time under the military courts. And supposedly he was convicted and now faces the death penalty. It seems like a huge load of crap to me.

  • I need help with my 14 month old? She's having issues passing stool.?

So ever since I started giving her solids, she's had this issue. I started feeding her more balanced meals with a lot of whole grains, bran, and plenty of liquids during the day but she started losing weight instead of gaining it, so I went to her doctor. He gave me some advice and instructions for her diet and since I've been doing that "diet" to try to get her to gain the weight she needs, she's been having a really hard time passing stools. She used to go every day at least once, but the stool was hard and painful so she started holding it in and would go every other day. Well, I started trying to balance her meals better again, giving her pear and prune juice, warm baths every night, massaging her tunny and back, and making sure she drinks lots of water...I give her plenty of fruit and veggies (if she eats them) and she's still holding it in. It's been three days now and I have another doctor's appointment to schedule in the morning when the place opens. What should I ask her Pediatrician? He usually will give me the same advice every time. Do I need to see a Nutritionist? Any other parents have this issue as well?

I know that the longer she holds it, the worse it gets...is there anything that I can do to relieve her bowels that is safe for me to do before the doctor's appointment? Any advice, parents?

  • My baby is slightly underweight...Your suggestions?

My daughter is almost a year now and she's 19 pounds. When I took her in to the doctor at nine months, she weighed 18 and he said she was a little bit underweight but that it wasn't a huge deal. He told me to make sure she nurses enough and if I need to, to supplement with formula. I tried doing that so that I could get her to gain the weight healthily but she doesn't like it and won't take to a bottle or even when it's placed in a sippy cup. I feed her plenty of solids and make sure that when she isn't nursing a lot in a day that she's getting her calories from fruit juice and foods high in protein. I feed her meat and make all of her food for her. And she's only gained a pound in two months. I'm a first time mom so I may be worrying over nothing. She'll be a year old on Thanksgiving and I want to get her into the doctor before then. Has anyone else had this problem, too? I try to nurse her more often so she can get all the nutrients from breast milk but she's weaning herself and only really likes to nurse in the morning after she wakes up, in the middle of the day after her lunch and before her nap, and then at bedtime right before I put her in her crib. What are some things I can safely feed her that will allow her to gain the weight she needs?

  • I have a Swiffer sweeper and I'm wondering if it's safe for my daughter to crawl on the floor after I've ...?

I bought the starter kit. The one with the wet mop and the dry sweeper thing. I need to know if the chemicals are safe after they've dried. Does anyone know if it's alright for my daughter to crawl on the kitchen floor?

  • Moms, when did you wean your babies? Or when did they wean themselves?

My daughter doesn't seem to nurse anymore and prefers oatmeal or rice cereal mixed with fruit and my breast milk. Is this normal at six months? My husband and I have been feeding her solids since she was four months. She only wants to nurse early in the morning and before she goes to sleep. How can I keep a good supply so I can supplement her food with breast milk? (I have been pumping but it doesn't seem to get too much). Also...I have heard that pumping at certain times of the day is best. Does anyone have any advice for me on pumping and how I can keep a good supply going until she's a year old?

  • Is this strange? My method of birth control is Mirena...?

...and every time my husband and I have sex, it hurts. I rarely want to have sex anymore and if I do show desire I quickly lose interest halfway through because of the pain. Not only is it painful, but I will bleed afterward. I have also had strange side effects and weight gain issues. I haven't had a regular period yet and I don't like it. I also have been having an issue with a large rash on each of my breasts and on my stomach. It doesn't go away for long and it itches and hurts at the same time. I've seen my OBGYN about it but he said it had nothing to do with Mirena. But it's his job to convince me to keep the birth control because I'm on state assistance right now.

  • Does my screen name provoke bad answers?

Every time I ask a question, I get horrible answers and people just harp on me. It's pretty funny. Could it be a psychological thing? "Oh, she's a snarky *****, let's get her!" (Cue the angry mob!)

I'm pretty sure people need to lighten up a little. :) It's just a screen name. And it's just for fun.

  • “You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way...."?

“You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.”

    Who said this?

And what do you think of this quote?

  • My two month old has a blister on the inside of her lower lip, what could this be?

She is a breast fed baby and I have been eating healthy. I noticed it when I was playing with her and messing with her bottom lip. I saw what looked like an abscess/blister on her bottom lip on the inside, just above the gum-line. Should I be worried? What could cause this?

  • How can I get my 3 week old newborn to sleep?

She just started this thing where she likes to be up screaming at night. I put her to bed at eight every night after a warm bath and a feeding. She goes right down but it takes her about an hour before she's up again. I change her if she needs it and rock her if she needs it, but even if I do everything I can for her, she keeps crying. Last night was the worst case, she stayed up most of the night, only sleeping when she was on the breast. I tried giving her a pacifier but she won't take it. The only way she finally got sleep was taking her for a drive with my husband. Right now she is asleep and I hope that since she was up most of the night last night and a good part of the day, that she'll sleep more tonight. Could she maybe be colicky? I know she doesn't have a fever and I have gas relief drops and even those did not help her crying. Any mothers know what I can do to help calm her down when this happens again? She used to be sooo good about sleeping most of the night. She would wake up every 3-4 hours and need to eat and be changed, but she would have no problems getting back to sleep. Now, all of the sudden, she doesn't want to sleep for anything. We tried swaddling her, humming softly while rocking her in our arms, gas drops, leaving the lights off and all noise down, white noise, breastfeeding, warm baths, the automatic swing thing, and the only thing that's worked so far is going for a drive.

  • Is this pain in my breasts normal? New mothers?

I have a two-week old newborn and I breastfeed her every three to four hours and just whenever she is hungry and needs to eat. But lately I have been getting a twinging pain in my breasts and nipples when I am not feeding her or it has been awhile since her last feeding. It is different from the pain I experienced when my nipples were getting used to the constant suckling and I don't have that kind of pain anymore, this is a different pain. Is it normal to have this? Should I invest in a pump? I am unsure if the pan is caused because of the need to have the milk expressed or if it something else.

  • I want to become a massage therapist? Where can I go?

I know I need certifications, but how long does that generally take and where can I go to get an accredited certification? Do I have to go to school for years? Or is there a shorter course I can take?

Thanks in advance for you answers! ^.^

  • 40 weeks pregnant, first time mother, help me please?

Okay...I don't know what this is, is it a contraction? My entire belly gets hard and starts hurting but not bad enough to go to the hospital. It doesn't hurt near the cervix, though. So is this normal? What is it called? Can you mothers help me out, please? Thanks so much!

  • 39 weeks and possible signs of early labor? Please help?

Alright so it started after my husband had sex yesterday evening at six. I started getting really light cramps that felt like menstrual cramps that were pretty spaced out and a bit irregular. They didn't last more than a minute. As the night progressed, they got a little worse but not bad enough that I couldn't go to sleep or eat or felt the need to go to the hospital. I've been eating small meals, taking warm showers, and resting as well as walking to try and speed things up. I woke up a few times during the night, I guess and my husband tells me I would suck in air and call out his name but I don't remember this at all. I woke up pretty late and now the cramps aren't as bad as they were last night. Could it be early labor? Or a false positive? I don't want to go all the way to the hospital and then have them tell me that I need to go back home. And this is my first baby so I am unsure of what to expect. Also there has been no leaking of fluid from the vagina, but after my husband pulled out from sex, he noticed quite a bit of mucus. Could that have been my mucus plug? How long does it usually take for the amniotic fluid to start to leak, or break, after the mucus plug is gone?

  • Why is it that more women do not breastfeed their babies?

It seems like the most logical decision if the woman can, of course. I know under certain circumstances some women cannot breastfeed. But it is more cost-effective and I have heard the bonding experience is really awesome. It also has health benefits, as studies have shown that the women who breastfeed have a significantly smaller chance of getting breast cancer later on in life as well as osteoporosis. It also helps women lose the weight they gained during their pregnancies. Not to mention it is healthier for the baby to consume breast milk than it is for them to consume formula.

So are some women just afraid? Or do they just not want to?

  • 38 weeks and I need to know if this is normal...should I call my doctor?

My husband and I had sex two days ago and there has been a bit of brownish discharge since then. After we had sex, there was bright blood but there wasn't a lot and it was not followed by any discomfort or cramping at all. I haven't lost my mucus plug but there continues to be discharge. Should I be worried? No other fluids have come out and I feel fine. But is the bleeding a signal that I could go into labor soon or is it normal since my cervix is so vascular during the pregnancy?
