1 AnswerOther - Europe10 years agoHow do I convince my parents that they should move to assisted living?
My mom (80) and dad (81) still live on their own on a farm. Neither one is in terrible health but they both have their issues. The biggest "issue" is my father's dementia. At first, it seemed almost like a minor annoyance but lately, it has gotten worse. As such, I believe they would be better off in an assisted living facility near their home. I help them out every weekend and I would continue to see them every week regardless of where they live. My parents aren't rich but they certainly aren't poor either so the expense of assisted living is not a huge issue. Unfortunately, every time I bring up the idea of assisted living, they get angry. There is no other family in the picture.
So, how do I convince them that it is for their own good without having them resent me for it?
18 AnswersSenior Citizens10 years agoI need a recommendation on a laptop.?
I am looking for a new laptop. It would be used 100% for business. I hate all of the garbage that comes on new computers today. I would be happy with just an OS and nothing else. At first, I was thinking about getting one with 8GB of Ram but, as it turns out, the software that I will need to run only recommends 1GB so a 4GB machine would probably be just fine.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

2 AnswersCanada1 decade agoCan/Will a bank lend on its own foreclosed property?
I have an offer in on a bank owned house but the appraisal came in about $7k less than my offer. In my opinion, the appraisal is too low. The seller (a small bank) also believes that the appraisal is too low and doesn't want to reduce the price any lower. However, the mortgage company that I went through says that it will only lend based on the original appraisal.
Is it possible to go straight to the bank that owns the property with my original offer and will they fund the deal themselves? I have enough cash for a 20% down payment and my credit scores are in the low 800's.

So far, I came up with:
"She's swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool."
Can anyone think of any others?
