  • Broker Currency Exchange fees?

I hope this is the right form. Im looking for a little clarity in moving money back from my US account to my Canadian account in my broker. I know my broker charges a 1% spread for this. So, Im not quite sure exactly how his is calculated and its hard to find information online.

Hypothetically say I am bringing 100K USD to my Canadian account when the exchange is 1.25.

Would I just minus 1% from the exchange rate (1.24)

    OR

Would it be simply 1% of the exchange. In this case the gain on exchange is $25,000, so they would take $250

    OR

Do they take 1% of the whole US amount, $1000.

Some help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Settlement period on Stocks?

I just sold a stock for a gain (as Im trying to sell it its gains during a few years to keep in a lower tax bracket).

I want to still be in the stock but make sure this gain is counted for this year. My brokerage account shows that the cash is immediately there. Can I buy right back and have this count for 2020? Or do I need to wait 2 business days for this "settlement" I keep hearing about?

  • Market Capitalization uses for valuation?

Why is it that so many people (big youtubers especially) use a relative valuation of market cap to derive a price.  For example they say that Tesla should have a market cap the same as X company therefore it justifies a certain price?

Do they not know that market Cap is Price times the number of outstanding shares?  And that this market cap is depended on the VALUE of the company and that is what drives the share price, thus the market cap.

    Change my mind.

  • feng shui and townhome designs?

I looked at a 3 floor townhome that I loved.  When I came in I always turn to the left.  Left at the top of the stairs to the kitchen, courter looks left to where the TV would be in the living room and left up the stairs, again left to the bedroom.

The other available one is the complete opposite. Everthing is to the right.  It just feels wrong for some reason (I can't see this one in person as it is not built yet and I have to make a decision), but I wonder if this is because I haven't been in it or I am so stuck on the first one.

What are your thoughts?  Is there any Feng Shui to this?

  • Capital gains and income?

This may be a stupid question but I have to make sure.  If I sell a stock and it increases my income is is my income increased by amount of my capital gain or the whole amount of the sale.

Eg. i have income of 70,000 and sell 30,000 of stock. My profit off the sale is 5,000

Weill I be taxed on income of 100,000 or 75,000?

  • Las Vegas strip question?

I am thinking about staying across the street from Bellagio at Paris. There is a stag party I am going to and they are all staying in Bellagio, but I can save quite a bit by staying at Paris. I know they are right across the street but looks like you need to take an overpass. Any idea how long of a walk this is?

  • I chipped my tooth years ago.?

When I was a young kid a chipped my tooth, about 15 years ago. Everything is healthy as I have not had my dentist say anything about it during x-rays. Someone told me today that over a long period teeth can die and I could end up getting a root cannel. If the tooth appears healthy what are the chances of this happening since it happened about 15 years ago? Don't think I had much trauma to the tooth except chipping a large piece off the front.

  • Law-Tort Law Negligence question?

So I understand when understanding if someone is negligent you must determine:

    Duty of care

    Standard of care

    Causation

My book then talked about foreseeability. I understand this but dont understand where this fits. Is this in the standard of care? The person may have not met the standard but it was not foreseeable? Or is this the last step all on its own. Please help, thanks.
