  • Air travel while partially vaccinated?

I had planned a trip to New York with some family for late April. At the time we didn’t know what the vaccination situation would look like. A month ago, I backed out of the trip but didn’t cancel anything formally. The folks I was going with were early vaccine recipients so planned to move forward. Then, I unexpectedly got my first Pfizer dose in early April. The trip would fall a few days before I’d go in for my second dose. Part of me feels like it shouldn’t change anything. I’m not fully vaccinated. There will be other trips if I just wait a few weeks, right? The people I would be going with really want me to go. They point out that protection may be upwards of 80% after one dose. I’m feeling pretty torn.

  • Accidentally cut vaccine line - should I feel as guilty as I do?

I just became technically eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in my county. I read on Facebook that someone in the same health network as me had signed up for a vaccine appointment through our portal, but it wasn’t the most intuitive process. I figured that our network was dropping the ball in making it clearer how to sign up. Then, the network sent an email saying they’ll be sending out email invitations with instructions how to sign up based on priority. Since I never got an invitation and just happened to know the end-around way to sign up, I feel really guilty about it - like I jumped the line. I didn’t intend to jump ahead. Should I feel as guilty about this as I do?

  • First date ended abruptly and don't know how to read it?

So, I went on a first date today with a guy that I met on an app. Because of COVID restrictions and comfort level, we decided to do an outdoor coffee date at the local Starbucks. The date started with a hug (as I prefer). It was pretty casual, being a coffee date and having met through an app, but I really enjoyed the conversation. However, it's pretty cold here (mid-40s), and we had both said that we were kind of cold. About 45 minutes in, he said, "Well, I'm pretty cold, so I am going to go, but we're on the app. It was nice meeting you," and then left pretty abruptly without even giving me a hug.

As he was standing to leave, I said that I enjoyed our conversation and would like to see him again, and he said "sounds good." I don't have a good feeling about this. It was pretty cold, but he was very abrupt about ending the date, and I was really thrown off by the lack of a hug. I don't want to waste time and get my hopes up if he's not interested, but I also don't want to scare him off by pressing him after one date.

I'm thinking of sending something along the lines of, "Hey, like I said, I really enjoyed our conversation and would like to get to know you more, but I couldn't help but notice that our date ended abruptly. Do you feel the same way?"

How would you read this situation? And do you think my approach is the right one?

  • Did I come across as rude?

I use the subway every day to commute and I have a lot of neighbors that I vaguely know - coworkers, people from my home town, distant college acquaintances.

This morning, a guy from my home town who is still a friend of my sibling’s was walking toward the door to the station at the exact time I was.

Being that this is not someone I know well, I didn’t really want to spend the entire commute conversing. We made eye contact, he put up his hand, and I said a quick, “hello.” I then scurried ahead to avoid future conversation.

I fear this could come across as very rude. Would you take it as such? This happens somewhat often. I don’t like feeling forced to have a conversation for my entire 30min commute, but also do not want to hurt feelings or come across as unfriendly.

  • If you saw two opposite-sex coworkers eating lunch together, would you assume they are dating?

I recently returned from a big trip and one of my team members who is of the opposite sex and hoping to plan a similar trip asked if I wanted to eat in the break room so I could tell her all about it.

As we were eating, every coworker that entered the room seemed to do a double take. One even made a brief comment saying, “this is interesting.”

It seems that everyone thinks we’re dating just because we sat down to talk about something over lunch.

This seems wrong to me, but would you assume the same thing?

I don’t like the idea of people thinking this when that is not what is happening.

  • Would I be out of line to confront my laundry-loving apartment-mates?

I recently moved into an apartment with two apartment-mates. They are pretty good roommates, but one thing has really gotten on my nerves - they do a ton of laundry. They each do at least 5 loads per week. I am a pretty hardcore environmentalist and I also don't like to pay a lot in utilities. We all just graduated from college, and in those days we had to use the laundromat, which was a hassle, so I think it may be the freedom of having our own machines that is causing this. Nonetheless, it really does bother me. At the same time, I don't know how to confront them about this. Neither of them are environmentalists like me, so if I come at it from that angle, I will be resisted. If I approach them from a utility-cost perspective, I am afraid I will look very cheap. I have an easier time doing this with something like the heating/cooling because it is something we all have a stake in - but I would feel weird telling them how much laundry I think they should be doing.

Would confronting them be weird/out of line?

  • Leaving bar tab open and then cancelling the card?

Last night I went to a couple of different drinking establishments. When I got home, I realized that I didn't have my credit card and I wasn't sure if I had left my tab open or if I had simply lost the card. I cancelled the card, which I can easily do from an app. The time that I cancelled my card at was before when bars typically close in this area and so they wouldn't have closed it out by that time.

If the card was part of an open tab and is now cancelled, will this get me in trouble? I am going to call the different places that I went today once they open to see if they have my card, but I'm concerned this could cause an issue regardless.

  • iTunes cannot locate more than half of songs?

A few months ago I got a new computer. I synced my iPhone with the new computer, but many of the songs still had a (!) next to them. I never updated the iPhone because I knew that the (!) could mean that those were wiped out. Well, this week my iPhone has been freezing all week and so I decided to restore because people said that worked for them and I completely forgot that that could wipe out music. Now 3/4 of my library is gone and I do not have access to the previous computer to get the songs back (it is broken). Is there any way that I can recover these songs? There are about 700 of them.

  • Will the 2012 Chicago Saint Patrick's Day Parade be televised?

I know that several Chicago TV stations televised the downtown St. Patrick's Day parade last year, but I can't find anything online that suggests that a single station is doing it this year.

  • Who are Illinois' biggest rivals?

Please rank the University of Illinois Illini's rivals in order from most intense to least intense. If you want, you could do one list for basketball and one list for football since I know it might be different.

  • Los Angeles sports combinations?

So in NYC you usually see sports fans who either root for the Giants/Yankees/Rangers or the Jets/Mets/Islanders.

I am wondering if you see the same thing in LA. If I had to take a guess, I would say most fans are Lakers/Dodgers or Clippers/Angels, but I want to hear from some Californians.

  • Can Notre Dame still play in a BCS bowl game?

If ND football wins out, is 9-3 with losses to USF, Michigan, an USC good enough to earn Notre Dame a spot in one of the 5 BCS bowl games?

  • What states will Ron Paul have the best chance in?

If Ron Paul wins any states this upcoming election cycle (which I believe he will), which ones will be easiest for him to win?

I'm thinking it's probably states like New Hampshire that value their freedom dearly. Here is my top 5 easiest for him:

    1. NH

    2. WY

    3. CA

    4. MT

    5. IA
