What is the reason medical providers and hospitals list your race on your records?

    Favourite answer:

You may not be aware, but different ethnic groups are subject to different health problems. Your doctors really need to know if you look white but have significant, say, African (northern or sub-Saharan) or Mediterranean or Asian ancestry.

And Native American/Amerindian matters, too.Yes, oddly, it has been found that some medications work better in some groups than in others.  That's not widely true so far, but as more testing is done, it may be found that more drugs have that effect.

How often do nurses change their uniform in hospital ?

    Hi,

If you work as a nurse in a private hospital especially, do you wear the same uniform everyday but wash regularly or does the hospital order and give you new ones? And if so, how often is this?

Any idea how to stay cool at night?

I turn into a human heater when I sleep, and I have since I was a teen. At one point my boyfriend couldn't sleep with me in the summer because I was so hot at night. I've tried thin blankets and gel pads that are supposed to keep you cool, but those heat up after a while and become another problem. I wake up covered in sweat, I have fans and air-conditioning going but it doesn't help. I don't tolerate heat well, to the point that I've gotten heat stroke multiple times. Around 74 degrees I get uncomfortable, by 80 my asthma gets really bad, 86 and I have trouble breathing and can enter heat exhaustion easily, and by 90 I can't move and I'm in danger of heat stroke. So being a sweaty and hot mess at night isn't ideal. Does anyone know of products that help cool someone off in their sleep?

Did anyone else feel really weird after getting the covid vaccine?

I just got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine about 9 hours ago. I got it in my left arm. My left arm feels a little sore, as expected, but my right arm feels extremely heavy. It’s like it takes a lot of effort just to lift it. My headache went away with some ibuprofen, but I feel a little “foggy.” My eyelids feel heavy, and I’m a bit groggy and disoriented. I don’t believe I have a fever, and I’m not too achy like I was expecting. I don’t usually feel like this when I’m sober, but I definitely haven’t been drinking. My eyes feel like they’re working extra hard to focus. Did anyone else feel like this?

How can we know for sure that the COVID vaccines are safe?

    Favourite answer:

Have you ever seen anyone contract a terminal disease from ANY of the 26 vaccines in use in the USA?

You are more likely to die in a car crash and yet you get into a car without worrying about it.

Everything in life has some element of risk.  More than half a million dead and many more with long-term conditions from Covid.    The vaccine is a no-brainer when it comes to risk-reward.

did governors of states really restrict people from having "elective surgery" and even going to a standard medical clinic? which states? why?

    Favourite answer:

In other countries, they have not been able to balance covid very well.  There are a lot of restrictions on what healthcare treatment is available.

In the US, we have been running our healthcare system at full levels since around May 1, 2020.

In November/December/January, healthcare systems did reduce "elective surgery" in some areas.  But it was truly "elective surgery" - items that don't make much difference if you do them today versus in a few weeks - like knee replacements.

Bad news comes in phone calls not letters. Most probably dates of your next appointment so open them.

Feeling Low Energy, Moody, Tired, Not Enthusiastic, Sleepy all of a sudden?

I'm 18 male living in the UK with my family. This problem started yesterday ( Tuesday) after I woken up. Here's a little context. Last week on a Sunday, I woke up at like 5‐5:30pm in the afternoon because of having late night sleep like usual. I stayed up late again on Sunday through Monday  but the problem was that I had work on Monday morning waking up around 8 ish in morning. So I stayed up throught Sunday to Monday and on Monday I slept at 6am. So really, had like 1hr 30 minutes to 2 hours of sleep. This had really messed me up badly but I'm used to sleeping little hours. My worst one was sleeping for 40 minutes. After I finished work I came home at like 2pm. I layer in bed as soon as I got home and then around 4pm, I nodded off (sleeping). I woke up around 7pm by my mother when she turned on the bedroom light which woke me up hard. I'd then went to sleep again after she woke me. Then lastly I woke up around 3am feeling pretty shitty (Tuesday). I was feeling fatigue, my eyes felt dry, light headaches around my forehead and my right temple, moody, unhappy, low energy etc. I never felt this before and I'm still feeling like this right now writing this. It's so awful that I wanna feel energized again. Today (wednesday) I slept at 1am because I was on my phone that keeped me up at night and woke up at like 8am. Still feeling ****. I don't know what to do. I don't know if it's sleep deprivation, lack of vitimin D, SAD, depression, thyroid I have no clue. I need help Im scared

Yesterday my feet, arms, legs started twitching and tingling like crazy then I feel like I was going to pass out! I felt caused, weak so I went to the hospital and they told me they didn’t find anything. So I came back him and they told me to just get some rest. Now I can’t sleep because my legs keep twitching. My stomach feels bloated and hurts and I can hear gurgling noises. This is the most uncomfortable feeling I’ve ever felt and it’s driving me crazy! Please please PLEASE help me

if you take painkillers, what do you take them for?

    Favourite answer:

I do, i'm 74 and have arthritis in every inch of my body. OTC don't touch it so i take a RX. Only 2 a day and i can only get small amounts at a time so there's no danger of addiction. Of course at my age no one would really care.  Lol

I was up all night Sunday until 4am with every side effect of the vaccine for Covid?

Nausea, vomiting, sweating, chills, then burning, joint pains and tenderness. Felt 80% better almost soon as next day however I still find myself coughing painfully and sore joints and weird feelings. Should I still get tested? It’s been two days since jab and I’ve had 2 tests already as a key worker
