I've been in Ireland for two years and my friends say that the Gardai sometimes don't bother investigating crimes because the criminals will just get a suspended sentence handed to them by judges (in particular for sex crimes, Justice Martin Nolan).

From where I live in America, the police seem much more intimidating and the judges are almost too keen on incarcerating and giving people criminal records.

There should be a balance but is Ireland there or is it too much to the 'other end' of being lax.

Don't get me wrong, every city in the world has its good and bad but for a first world nation, Dublin is appauling.

I've been to London, New York, Paris, Berlin and they don't have the visible problems of homelessness and drug use that Dublin has in it's CBD. 

The police in these cities at least keep the tourist areas looking good. Meanwhile on O'Connell Street, you'll have people drunk out of their minds drinking Dutch Gold during the afternoon. You can see many homeless people sleeping on cardboard boxes or tents throughout. Even when going to Phoenix Park. Don't think I've seen so many rough sleepers in any other city.

Even my German and American friends who visit here claim that the countryside is beautiful but Dublin overall sucks.

For example the gas CO known as carbon monoxide and CO2 known as carbon dioxide.

Water (H2O) is also called dihydrogen monoxide. So why isn't H2O2 known as hydrogen dioxide?

Now, I think women who are domestic abusers should get punished as well but I think to equate their potential for danger with male abusers is false.

The main reason is intimidation. Men are way more intimidating than women. To illustrate, I'll give an example. As a black guy I've been called the n-word many times in my life in Europe, by kids, teens, an adults. Although it's definitely not pleasant, I can brush off when a kid calls shouts at me. I'm not intimidated at allIf it's a teenager or adult, I'm way more intimidated not just because of the words but the threat of violence. I know a group of teen boys could kick the **** out of me. The same analogy applies with countries. America is way more intimidated by China/Russia threatening them than North Korea. The former two have way more military power.In the same way I believe that unless a woman has a weapon or total financial domination over her husband/boyfriend, she just can't be as intimidating as a man can be to a woman. Nearly all men are stronger than all women so a man can easily overpower his spouse.

I'm a 22yr old guy and my 26yr old female cousin feels comfortable with discussing sex with me. I also don't have a problem with it.

When taking to other people online they say that it's weird and gross. Are they tright?

By successful I mean working a job/studying in college, paying rent, keeping kept etc.. My parents growing up were from a developing nation and their stance on drugs was basically "If you touch them even once, your life is over".

Now, obviously 'drugs' is a huge spectrum of substances which do not have an equal level of addictiveness. Cannabis (weed) and alcohol is not as alluring when used regularly as opiates, benzos, or stimulants like coke and amphetamines.

In my college, many people use hardcore drugs and they aren't "junkies" like my parents would have had me believe. They're funnily enough from middle class/wealthy families and aren't the type of people you would suspect of drug use from looking at them.

So what's the truth, can most drugs be used without a danger of becoming addicted or is it only a matter of time?

I know its a generalisation but I would think this is the case. Many of my male friends admit that they don't mind seeing nudes of random hot women online, even unsolicited.

On the other hand, virtually none of my female friends enjoy nude pics of men. It doesn't make them aroused. They say the can only get aroused if it's their own boyfriend.

This is a question that is that 9/11 truther talk about. How could American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 fly into the North and South Tower respectively "like a hot knife through butter"?

Shouldn't the majority of the plane's fuselage have crumpled upon impact and fell onto the ground? How could lightweight aluminum penetrate the tower and come out the other side?

Is it like Force = Mass x Acceleration? If you have a bullet and throw it at someone, it has a small mass and small acceleration thus small force. Yet if the very same bullet was ejected from a gun it still has the same small mass but a huge amount of acceleration enabling it to penetrate someones body and seriously injure/kill them.

So perhaps an aluminium plane with a small amount of acceleration doesn't have enough force to penetrate a building but if it's travelling at 580mph it can do some serious damage. Right?

Obviously a driver who is not under the influence is better but which one of them is safer?

Don't get me wrong, I like Yahoo Answers and I was on it before I started using Reddit, but in terms of search engines, Yahoo is pretty awful. Google is much better.
