My cat is shaking uncontrollably and has very quick shallow breathing. I checked her throat and I couldn't see or feel anything caught in her airways. Her pupils are somewhat dilated, but she seems aware of what's going on. What can it be and what should I do? I cannot get her to the vet for at least a few hours! (Also, two weeks ago she was spayed.)

This has happened to me on numerous occasions for the past five or so years. One, two, or all five of my fingers on my right hand (I think this has only happened to my right hand, though I'm not sure-- but it is only one hand at a time) will swell up rather severely for a number of days before spontaneously resolving itself. Right now it is my pinky and ring finger.

Ice does not reduce the swelling, nor does rest. It is uncomfortable and somewhat painful, but not unbearably so, and somewhat itchy. No bumps or red streaks, or discoloration whatsoever. Just swelling.

I'm a 20 year old female with no history of arthritis, allergies, or anything like that, and my salt intake is not too severe, nor do I have any other apparent water retention.

First, I have no allergies, though I have had a finger or two swell for a few days before. I always wondered what exactly was the cause of this, as it seemed completely spontaneous and it would resolve itself.

The first and second fingers on my right hand have been swollen for a few days. Warm to the touch, but not painful. Not particularly itchy, though I do itch them occasionally from the discomfort. Not purple or any other color-- just a little more pink than usual. Resting it doesn't help the swelling, nor does ice, though it is soothing. Now the tip of my pinky on the same hand is swelling as well. My ring finger is perfectly fine, as is my left hand. Aside from the three swollen fingers mentioned I have no other symptoms.

NO idea what made this set in, though at first I thought it might be some irritation from gun oil. I've looked around, and I don't think it's a broken blood vessel, because I hear that turns a finger purple or blue or black. And I don't think it's cellulitis, because I read that the swelling is painful and that there is drainage. As a note, I just took my temperature and it is normal, and I don't feel any swollen lymph nodes.

Has anyone had random swelling like this happen to them? Any and all ideas and comments are welcome. I'm really curious as to what this could be.

I feel a little ignorant for asking this, but I've never had anything more than a dial-up connection, so I have no idea. I was building a Dell (see my other question) and I was told I only had three PCI slots and so, in essence, chose either a modem or the "Internal PCI 802.11g Wireless Network Card". Well, I don't want to get the wireless network card and then find out I can't connect to a phone-line, so I wanted to be absolutely sure, even if it makes me look like a total n00b. lol

What do you have to do to produce the sound of a big cat roar (like a tiger, jaguar, whatever) on a guitar? What kind of settings, and how do you play it? Whammy bar? Lots of overdrive?

You can hear the kind of effect I'm referring to about a minute into the song "Big Money" by Rush, right after the line "big money make no sound." I'd love to know how to make that sound.

Also, on songfacts.com it says "In the first verse, what sounds like a guitar with a vibrato arm is actually Lee playing a PPG synthesizer with a guitar sound sampled into it." If that's the case, is it still possible to produce this sound with a guitar?

What is the condition referred to in the Black Beauty movie (the one with Sean Bean), after Ginger's race, when she's coughing and her sides (around the ribs) are white , and the one man says "You've broken her-- she can't breathe properly"? I have seen horses with white sides like that, and I'd like to know what causes that and where I can learn more about it. Is it COPD? If so, why can I find nothing about white sides being a symptom of COPD?

Is there any way to manually raise the window? And, if so, are there any step-by-step instructions? Please note the window is lowered all the way down.

I don't care so much if I have to never lower the window again, I would just like the window to be up without having to buy any new parts or have a mechanic work on it. My car is an '89 Chevy Beretta, BTW.

The mind-reader takes a sheet of blank paper. I have an '89 Beretta GT, and last night I rolled the passenger's side window down and it will NOT roll back up. It rolled down fine, and when I press down on the switch it still makes a noise. The driver's side window is fine, by the way, but now I'm afraid to use it. lol

I've tried pulling the window up while holding the switch up (that option is no longer available as the window is now all the way down-- it didn't fall down, by the way, it was rolled down) and I've tried slamming the door. What else can I try to make it go back up? Am I not hitting it in the right place? I am perfectly happy to beat the living crap out of it, so anywhere worth giving a beating, please let me know. And any ideas on what's causing it? Bad motor? Bad switch? I don't think it's the fuse, because the other window works, but I could be wrong. And there's only the one switch per window, so I can't try a different switch.

Please help, I think it's going to rain soon. =(

I think I have Guyon's Canal syndrome. I think I have a ganglion, or something similar, that has formed on the styloid process of my distal ulna (I believe that is the correct term-- correct me if I'm wrong) from having rested my hand on a hard surface. I think I brought it to a head when I strained my wrist from lifting.

So far I have had pain when putting stress on my wrist from pulling or lifting heavy things, that is, when I turn my wrist down and out, like when pulling up my socks. I do NOT have pain around my thumb or first two fingers-- those are fine. Yesterday the center of my palm and then my pinky and ring finger were tingly. The tingling/numbness has stopped. When I tap on my Guyon's Canal, it only SOMETIMES hurts. The other tests I am too squeamish to try.

I am wearing a brace, and it has helped a lot. I am icing it occasionally, and taking anti-inflammitories. My only symptoms right now are occasional pangs of pain.

Is there anything else I can do that will help? Thnx!

What is the name of the nerve on the pinky side of your arm? In case that doesn't make sense, hold up your hand and look at your palm and draw a straight line down from your pinky to the corner of your hand, with the little bony protrusion. That's the nerve I mean. The one you can feel. What is this nerve called? (It IS a nerve, isn't it?)

Bonus points for telling me about conditions you can have when this gets injured or strained. This is very important, as I've been resting my hand on a hard surface, and I now have a bit of a callus developed there, and I feel it may be the cause of my recent wrist/arm/hand pain. Please help. I've been reading about Pygoras and their fleece types, but I never could find any information about one thing:

What fleece type is most valuable?

Also, I'm assuming a type A goat produces more than a type B, and a type B produces more than a type C. So I'm also assuming it would stand to reason that even if type C fleece was more valuable than type A, it would be more profitable to have a type A goat because it would produce more?

Also, do wethers produce more fleece than does?

I've been looking for a digital camera-- something in the "advanced point and shoot" category. I originally had my eye on this Canon http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8266... until I saw it apparently doesn't come with rechargeable batteries. So now I'm leaning more toward http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8258... .

1: Does the Panasonic come with rechargeable batteries and a pack to recharge them?

2: Will the Panasonic take SanDisk flash cards? (I have a 256MB SanDisk from my old Canon, and it would be awesome if this camera takes it. I also have a 128MB SanDisk from a Kodak Easyshare.)

3: Is it sturdy-- if dropped?

4: Does it take action shots well?

I mostly use my camera outside to take animal and landscape photos, though I sometimes use it indoors. I'm really tempted by the Panasonic's 6x zoom. Also, I don't use a tripod.

On the back of the "Preparation H Hemorrhoidal Suppositories" box, it says to ask a doctor before use if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland. It also says to ask a doctor if you are taking a prescription drug for high blood pressure or depression.

WHY can't you use this if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disease, or if you're taking a prescription drug for depression? The curiosity is driving me crazy.

(Also, does anyone know how long you have to wait after using this before you can use a laxative suppository?)
