I have many hobbys & interests, Music, Film, Hi -End Audio & Video systems, sports, Astronomy, Photography, Computers, Computer Gaming, Internet (best invention ever lol) I have been designing, selling, installing, and calibrating, some of the very finest in Hi-End Audio & Video Systems for over 35 years now. I have a love and deep passion for music & film. I have dedicated myself to learning eveything thing there is about the very complex art and science of how to design a audio system and getting the most out of music. Now with more time on my hands, I hope to write a book to help more people to discover hi-end audio, and to help them through what is a very complex, and what can be a very overwhelming process. To help others design a system that exceeds thier expectations, and bring another level of music appreciation to those that never thought possible. Please feel free to ask me any questions I will be happy to help. Kevin
Do you believe that specifications determine sound quality ? ?
So do you have the belief that measurements determine sound quality and why ? Do you also believe that if there are two components that measures the same that they will sound the same ? Do you believe that there is no difference in the sound of cables even if they measure differently ?

13 AnswersMusic & Music Players4 years agoTexting etiquette questions?
I have had some issues with some of my friends with texts. It has created some serious issues I m curious have I been in the wrong here, whats your take ?
One friend I included in a group text I sent to my closest friends wanting to include them in an event I went to that I was very excited about, took pictures and send pictures. One of my friends called me at the event screaming at me not to sent him texts because its using his data. lol it isnt because we are on the same provider but he doesnt have a smart phone and cant really see pictures well. Hes old school and feel if he doesnt want to receive text then block me hell.
Another friend just texted me because I sent him a text about the basketball game. He got mad because he is taping it and didnt want to know anything about the game until he watches it. lol again is it me or are these guys just idiots when it comes to using phones. I think the later lol.
your thoughts ? thanks
1 AnswerFriends5 years agoIs there any real security information on windows 7 log files ?
I am trying to trouble shoot system crashes and I'm thinking it has to do with my video driver. The manufactures support technician wants windows, application, security, system, and DXdiag log files. I am just concerned there might be some security information that could put me at risk. Should I not be concerned ? Really appreciate your input thank you.
3 AnswersSecurity6 years agoAnyone have knowledge on Ampex 351-2 real to real tape machines ?
I am wanting to do some completely analog full tube remote recordings. I am a HUGE fan of Ampex machines but I am looking to buy and restore one. I am wondering how expensive a adventure this would be and who is really good at restoring these machines.
Thanks

2 AnswersOther - Internet7 years agohow much ram and what speed ram is desireable for gaming PC ?
I am building a high end gaming and multimedia PC and am wondering how much ram and what speed ram is the way to go. Im building a windows 7 based PC with the ability to have up to 64gb 2400 SD ram.
Does it make sence to have 64gb of ram or is 32gb enough ? Is there a big difference in the performance between 2400 and 1600 speed ram and is it worth the big difference in price ?
Are you better off with less ram and higher speed ram. For instance 32gb of 1600 vs 16gb of 2400 ? and please indicate how much of each ram is desireable
Lastly: the mother board has the ability to do SSD caching. I am on the fence weather to use SSD caching, or just use a dedicated SSD drive for the OS and larger 1tb for mass storage and maybe even do a raid 1 with an additonal 1tb HD. Does SSD caching make a huge improvement even with a 10,000 rpm HD and if so, does it make sence to use two ssd's one for ssd caching and one for the OS ?
Thank you very much

1 AnswerAdd-ons8 years agoWhat are some good sites to learn about DSLR cameras ?
Hello I will be in the market to buy a decent quality DSLR camera. I know analog cameras but digital is a whole new and different thing to learn. Prefer to spend less than a grand but if it really makes a huge difference in picture quality then I will possibly spend more. Are any of these cheaper DSLRs worth the money ? Is Nikon or Canon making some of the better DSLR's or is it some new kids on the block. Leica sounds like its over priced for what they are ? Full frame or not ? I would also like to learn how to use a digital camera since its a completely different way of shooting pictures. My understanding is F stop, and shutter speed doesnt effect the picture the same way a analog camera does ? Many questions as you can see lol. So Im in need of some good resources to or even magazines or books that are really good.
Thank you

I will be shooting mostly Macro, and static nature scenes. Will i need two lens's to get the right effects or is there one size lens I can pretty much do everything ? Thanks again for your help

2 AnswersHome Theater8 years agoWhat makes you qualified to answer questions on home theater?
I often see people giving advice on home theater or music systems that are completely wrong or is just really poor advice. There should be a section in this forum that gives a persons qualifications so people can be assured they are getting good advice. I'm curious what makes you think you are a expert and should be giving advice to others? What schooling or books have you used and give a synopsis of your philosophy on what makes a good sounding system and what to look for in speakers and equipment. I have been designing high end audio video systems for of 40 years now and have designed using some of the very finest in home audio video equipment. What's your background ?

8 AnswersHome Theater8 years agoHas anyone really spent time listening to D Class Amplification?
I'm curious how many people in these forums have actually spent some time listened and evaluated D class amplifiers ? I have heard a few and have yet to hear one that sounds good to me, or natural. To me they sound artificial same issue when comparing analog records to digital music. I'm an analog records and tube guy and there are very few solid state amplifiers I like, but these D class amplifiers lack the emotional connection to the music for me.

2 AnswersHome Theater8 years agoWhy do you think audio & video cables don't make a difference in the sound or video quality?
I always like a friendly debate and this is probably the king of them all. We always see questions from consumers if cables make a difference and if they should buy "more expensive" cables and 99.9 % of people say don't bother save your money and either use cheap cable or "oxygen free copper cables. I certainly enjoy to respond to those who are strong critics against better cables but never really get a good reason why they think that other than there's no "blind test" that prove there are differences or you cant measure it then it doesn't exist lol. Or the best of them all that dealers or sales people only want to make more money selling them. I will say that is not entirely false especially when it comes to the chain stores who really don't have a clue about high quality sound, how to achieve it, what makes something better, and they really don't even carry better cables that make a clear improvement. The only place to buy better cables and to be able to hear or see the differences is your smaller independent high end audio video stores who carry the better equipment and cables that can show you the differences in cables.
I of course am a advocate of better cables (and no it doesn't have to be expensive to be good) and in all my years of selling high end systems have never had a client say they couldn't hear or see the difference and could easily justify buying better cable, and this goes for all cables, analog, digital, and video cables. Its difficult to answer each aspect of why I believe cables make a difference but one technical aspect which is undisputed is that cables create inherently have resistance, capacitance, and inductance, varying any aspect of these parameters will effect its performance and hence sound or video quality. If people dispute it makes a difference then they must also conclude that there is no sound difference in capacitors, and resistors, then they must conclude there is no sound difference in components. I can tell you the sound differences in resistors and capacitors so then how is that not possible ? As for digital cables I often see if its digital it makes no difference if the ones and zeros are there it makes no difference. Well that again would not be true as there are aspect to the transmission of digital data that can contribute to sound differences. One is bandwidth, and the other big one is Jitter. Jitter is a form of digital distortion it is measurable and valid form of distortion.
I am a firm believer in the sound and video quality of cables, and sure cables can get very expensive very fast and i would admit its hard to justify some of the very highest end of cable costs, but honestly if you have a reference system and it makes that big a difference how can you not say its not worth it. The goal is to achieve the highest level of involvement with the performance so who is anyone to say its not worth the investment.
Anyway I ask you keep this a friendly debate and welcome your responses.
