Can a no damage car accident be claime for?

i was stopped in traffic in a rental car becase my car got totalled last week. So i took my foot off the brake - an automatic car which i dont normally drive and I bumped the car in front.

The woman refused to move her car or get out. So i motioned her to move and then went and asked her if she was ok. she said 'her neck hurt!" I cudnt believe it. She asked me how badly damaged her car was. i told her there was nothing - which there wasnt. i had a red dodge and she had a champagne gold toyota. She got out and said that cant be possible "you hit me so hard" She claimed I had damaged soemthing under/ inside her car. i told her no way. The bumper had a silver scratch on it. MY CAR IS RED. Anyways I gave her my number and drivers license and no insurance details as i didnt know them. The car was insured through the rental company. I left and now she is calling me telling me to pay for the damage. Can i ignore her? I have warned rental co. nothing on my rental car. No scratch. Nada.

Update:

haha THANKS I Agree. i am planning on ignoring her. In hope she will forget about it and move on since i gave her no insurance details. Not sure if she can do anything without that. I did warn the car rental company and they agreed there was no damage to my car and that the scratch cudnt have been from my car. I took pics of her car on my phone and off my rental just in case. So I shud be safe if anything comes of it right??

Update 2:

Hi hoorayforthat

I told the rental company since i took out THEIR insurance. Isnt that enough? I am covered under my own insurance too but I specifically took out the rental company's insurance. I am 100% sure the scratch is not from ME. It is a shopping cart or something else. I didnt give her any other details. Just my name number, address, drivers license.

I took pics of both cars. do i need to notify my own insurance company too?

thanks for the help.

It is a bad idea to ignore her. If she files a claim her insurance co will call the rental car co and eventually it will find it's way back to you.

Your insurance is primary. To avoid a lawsuit you should let them know what happened. You pay them to protect you, and it would be much scarier to get served with a lawsuit versus just telling your insurance about it in the first place.

Even if you caused a scratch only on her car, you do need to pay for it. If she claims injury, your insurance will investigate and not randomly pay someone who is faking an injury.

I WOULD HAVE HAD A POLICE REPORT MADE BUT FOR NOW IF YOU HAVE HER ADDRESS I WOULD TAKE SOME PICTURES OF HER CAR AND I WOULD STILL GET A POLICE REPORT ON FILE JUST TO PROTECT YOURSELF.

TODAY PEOPLE ARE SUE CRAZY AND I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU THIS.

IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS IN A HURRY FOR SOME QUICK MONEY, GET THE PICTURES THE POLICE REPORT AND DOCUMENTATION THAT STATES THAT THE RENTAL COMPANY AS WELL AS THE RENTAL COMPANIES INSURANCE ARE BACKING WHAT YOU ARE SAYING AND ALSO GET PICTURES OF THE CAR YOU WERE DRIVING.

WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE IN HAND I WOULD THEN IGNORE HER AND IF SHE TRIES TO SUE, WELL YOU WILL NOW BE READY.

    GOOD LUCK
