I married a Cameroonian in 5/05, filed for green card in 8/05 - when will we see any signs of life from USCIS?

Every time we call, the "Customer Service" people give us this huge runaround, asking for dates and form numbers, etc. before telling us, "Your application will be processed in August 2006, November 2006, February 2007," etc. Does our paperwork even still exist? My husband has been called twice already to do his biometrics - did they lose his fingerprints??? I feel like we're being toyed with to force us to pay the huge "expedite" fees. They keep telling us our paperwork was transferred to this state or that state and then we check out the processing centers in those states and they don't even handle I-130s or I-485s (we filed both - he's a political asylee). I even tried writing to my senator's immigration office. She sent me a very polite "not my job" letter. I wouldn't be so worried/angry except we helped our friends fill out their paperwork at the same time and they got theirs a few months later. Other friends have gotten them within 6-8 months. What the heck is going on?!

Update:

We met with an immigration officer at our local office in June. We showed her all our paperwork. First she told us we were wrong to file both the I-130 and the I-485, then she told us we did it right, then she told us just to sit tight and wait and maybe the immigration gods would grace us with a response before we're dead. We asked to speak with her supervisor, thinking we might see someone a little more knowledgeable, but she told us there was no supervisor. They make you stand in a little window with a long line of impatient people behind you, like you're at the DMV - when we made an "appointment," we actually thought we'd have some privacy, dumb us - so we did our best to get an answer but finally she just shut down, told us to wait and asked us to leave. Very very frustrating. Why do people think immigration difficulties only piss off immigrants?! What about the hard-working, taxpaying Americans they're married to???

That exactly is happening to me!!!!! i filed my I-485 on july 2006 i went twice for my fingerprints, i used to call customer service, but they didn't know what was going on. Then i went to my local office, they had my papers there, they were waiting for a paper that i already send

But i took some copies with me and i had that paper and i left another copy. They talked me i had all my papers now, i need to wait 1 month and then i went there and they told me they are waiting for another paper I-130 application . I'm going to write a letter to National Benefics Center, so they can send I-130. I suggest you go to your local office and talk with somebody, Do not call customer service, they told me they do not have information they just have what you see on line.

and maybe is a different process because he is a political asylee. i hope this will help you. I want to travel to see my family . ..........and i can't until i get my permanent resident

U should go to USCIS in your area, make an appointment online through the website (uscis.gov). Don't forget to bring your receipt notices, they will assist you to talk in person to the representative who in charge regarding your case, they will tell you why it is delayed. It would be better if you have a lawyer and go to the USCIS office with your lawyer.
