Swimming holes and other activities in upstate New York?

I'm going to be in upstate New York, around Duchess County, and was wondering if anyone has some swimming ideas? I know some of the holes have been regulated as non-swimming and dangerous. I'm looking for legal or unpatrolled. If you know what I'm talking about, I mean like Bish Bash Falls like 10 years ago when it was still legal to swim in the bottom.

Also, just looking to have fun- any other ideas are welcome too! Something like open farms or fruit-picking, or cute towns...

    Skiniatles lake is awesome and soo blue! If you go up to Jefferson County there is Kings falls wescott beach and lake ontario! I lived next to lake Ontario for over 20 years I loved it there.
